Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
If I asked you what is Church, how would you answer.....a building, the Mass, the people who attend or the institution and structure that supports all of these things?  Well, in a way, they are all correct answers, but the problem is they are all inward focused - who are we and what are we doing?  A very different way to think of Church is the outward mission that we have been given by Christ to go forth and make disciples of all the earth, "I will make you fishers of People". The simple truth is we are not truly evangelized until we are evangelizing.  What we do in Church is important and does have meaning, but it is only in the sharing with others outside of the mass that the mission is fulfilled. Although I have struggled with some of the liturgical changes over the past months, I do like the emphasis of the new dismissal, "Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord".
